Sandra Bullock sat down with Matt Lauer for her first television interview since her divorce from Jesse James, airing on the “Today” show on Tuesday. In it, she opens up about her adopted son, Louis, and what he means to the entire Bullock family.
“We don’t have any boys in our family. Boy, is everyone really happy about that. So, he’s like the crown prince. You know, it’s nothing but girls in our family,” Bullock said about her baby, whom she called her “little Cajun cookie,” in an excerpt on the show’s Scoop blog. “I mean, my cousin in Germany has one son. No boys — can you imagine how miserable our father is? I mean, every pet was female. But it was just the hierarchy that needed to be broken.”
Bullock also talked about how she was able to keep the adoption a secret from the media, crediting the people around her as having “massive amounts of integrity.”
“Human beings exist that have integrity, that know how to keep their mouth shut. That know the bigger picture, that don’t sell out their friends,” Bullock explained. “Those people are all over the place. But again, we don’t like to talk about it, because it doesn’t sell a magazine. But I was blessed with the same friends I’ve had since before things got really special for me and blessed in life.
“I did not circumvent,” Bullock explained further about the adoption. “I wanted to do everything exactly the same way everyone else did. And it was. He was always mine, you know. It wasn’t like I felt like someone was going to take him away. But it was nice to have someone say, ‘I think you’re a fit parent.’ … I think everything works out the way the universe wants it to work out.”
The Oscar-winner sat down with Lauer in New Orleans, where she helped to raise funds for a new health clinic on the campus of the Warren Easton Charter High School. “They did it with such power and love and integrity. Integrity. There’s so much integrity here. And I’ve never been around that much integrity,” Bullock said about the victims of Hurricane Katrina since the area in and around New Orleans was devastated by the natural disaster five years ago.

Justin Bieber may only be a 16-year-old pop star, but he usually has the stamina of a globe-trotting Olympic marathoner. Despite his superhuman ability to jet from one coast to the next on a weekly basis, however, even the Biebs gets taken low every once in a while.
That was the case on Sunday, when Bieber was forced to cancel his concert at the New York State Fair in Syracuse due to illness. According to the fair’s website, Bieber bailed on his Sunday night show and rescheduled for Wednesday (September 1). Because of the switch, promoters were also forced to push Wednesday’s previously scheduled Bieber show at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, to December 9.
On Friday, Bieber tweeted that he was psyched for the weekend’s shows but was not feeling well. “Next is Jersey, then Syracuse, then MSG in NYC for the 3D movie!!” he wrote that night. “Been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me. thank u for the love.”
He was reportedly energetic during his show at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Saturday night, though, showing no signs of the impending … Bieber fever.
But on Sunday afternoon, Bieber’s enthusiasm had clearly been sapped a bit. He tweeted,” really don’t know what to twitter … I’m getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor.”
Though he didn’t mention that the Syracuse show had been canceled, he followed with a shout out to fans. “I’m gonna be OK just need 2 rest but I wanted all of u 2 know I never want to let any of u down. I really appreciate all the kind words.”
The New York Daily News reported that the singer’s spokesperson vowed that Tuesday’s Madison Square Garden show will go on, which is good news for fans who were hoping to be part of Bieber’s 3-D movie, which is slated to take place at the concert.

The RV dealership that Taylor Lautner is suing for failure to deliver his custom RV trailer on time has come up with a unique proposal to settle the claim.
Brent McMahon, who owns McMahon?s RV, has suggested that the two have a push up contest to settle the matter out of court. He is adamant that he isn’t in the wrong and plans to defend himself in court, but thought the two could settle it in a more charitable way.
The 47-year-old businessman said if he won the contest, he would donate the settlement money to Children?s Hospital of Orange County.
Taylor is suing him for $40,000 – that would be a nice chunk of change for the hospital. What do you think of the proposal? I’m doubtful that Taylor will go for it.

Having been arrested in Sin City this past Friday night (August 27), Paris Hilton has issued a statement of thanks to those fans sticking beside her.
Picked up outside of the Wynn Resort with boyfried Cy Waits on felony cocaine possession allegations, the hotel heiress and her man have since been bonded out after being booked at the local jail.
Voicing her gratitude, Hilton tweeted on Sunday (August 29), “I’m so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me. Thank you all. Love you so much. Love Paris xoxo”
Denying any wrongdoing, Paris’s high-powered attorney issued a statement the previous day, telling, “This matter will be dealt with in the courts not in the media and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law.”

Kanye West is making good on his word.
The outspoken MC announced Sunday that he’ll be dropping a new track every Friday until Christmas with his “G.O.O.D. Friday” campaign. On Friday (August 27), West posted “Monster” on his KanyeUniversecity.com blog, an eclectic all-star collaboration featuring contributions from Jay-Z, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj.
West collaborator Bon Iver also lends his folky vibe to the track. The Chi-Town lyricist tweeted that the track was the second offering from Watch the Throne, his newly-announced joint album with Jay-Z.
An ominous chorus of distorted vocals opens the track just before Ricky Rozay kicks off his verse over the beat, which is a meaty slice of choppy, drum-driven boom-bap. “Bitch, I’m a monster/ No good bloodsucker/ Fat mother—-er/ Now look who’s in trouble,” Ross spits.
Then Kanye enters the fray: “Gossip, gossip/ N—a, just stop it/ Everybody know/ I’m a mother—-in’ monster.” Yeezy rides the beat with several more hard-hitting, bravado-laden bars, unapologetically feeling himself as he wraps up with “My presence is a present/ Kiss my ass.”
Hov abandons his typical crisp, cool lyricism and attacks his verse with a hungry, almost sinister flow. “Sasquatch, Godzilla, King Kong, Loch Ness/ Goblin, ghoul, a zombie with no conscience/ Question: What do these things all have in common?/ Everybody knows I’m a mother—-in’ monster,” Jay rhymes.
Although the track surfaced the same day Minaj tweeted about supposedly marrying Drake, the Young Money Barbie shows no signs of possibly being mellowed by a relationship, delivering a collection of punch lines buoyed by her trademark energy. “Pull up in a monster/ Automobile gangsta/ With a bad bitch that came from Sri Lanka/ Yeah, I’m in that Tonka/ Color of Willie Wonka/ You can be the king but watch the queen conquer,” Minaj rhymes.

NEW YORK — Chris Rock, Talib Kweli and Dead Prez’s M-1 were among the attendees of veteran journalist Dream Hampton’s screening Thursday night for her documentary “Black August: A Hip-Hop Benefit Concert.”
The event, held at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater, showcased the yearly tribute concert that has hosted performers such as Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Common, Dead Prez and David Banner in New York and South Africa.
In her film, Hampton features concert footage and interviews with a slew of activists.
The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement in Brooklyn powers the concerts each year, and in her doc, Hampton seeks to spotlight issues like police brutality and racial injustice. The concert series and the film seek to address awareness about political prisoners, including Mutulu Shakur, the stepfather of late rap star Tupac Shakur.
“I think the cause of political prisoners in the hip-hop community wouldn’t be as relevant in the hip-hop community as it is if it wasn’t for [the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement],” Kweli says in the film. “And it certainly has a long way to go from 10 years ago, and I think it’s more relevant. The bridges that we build in South Africa and Cuba are important. Every year, the show is bigger and better and grander.”
Hampton, who has written about hip-hop and culture for The Source and Vibe magazines, among other publications, has labored over the project for years and is finally set to release the project by the end of the year.
The event was sponsored by ImageNation and hosted by M-1.

Spending the evening at a big awards show soiree, Nicole Scherzinger was among the guests on hand for the Entertainment Weekly and Women In Film Pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood on Friday night (August 27).

“It’s the origin story of Robin Sparkles,” executive producer Carter Bays told EW. “You see where she came from.”
The episode, titled “Glitter,” is set to air during the November sweeps.

Closing out a day of tennis fun, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato took the stage at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Saturday (August 28).
The “Camp Rock 2″ stars gave the energetic performance as part of the annual 2010 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day coming ahead of the US Open tennis tournament.
Of the family friendly event, Michael Fiur, the executive producer of Arthur Ashe Day, said, “We think it’s one of the great ways to learn, not only sports skills but life skills. For kids to become leaders, for kids to improve their education, there are all kinds of scholarship programs. So it’s really about combining sports and education through the USTA’s community tennis programs.”
Also partaking in the event were the biggest names in the world of tennis including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Eminem is dominating the charts like it’s 2000 all over again, when his second album, The Marshall Mathers LP, spent eight weeks at the top spot on Billboard’s top 200 and went on to sell 9 million copies in the United States alone. His latest LP, Recovery, isn’t as big of a blockbuster just yet, but in the current music-industry climate, it’s killing.
The album has spent seven non-consecutive weeks at #1, the first hip-hop act to do so since Outkast’s double-LP Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in late 2003/ early 2004. A lot of Eminem’s chart success can be attributed to a very old-school source: radio hits. His first two singles, “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” have been staples on top 40 stations since they dropped.
“Radio still makes hits, and hits make artists relevant outside of their core consumer base,” Complex Editor in Chief Noah Callahan-Bever told MTV News. “That’s why you see that aberration in Em’s sales on Recovery vs. Relapse. To a 16-year-old, Eminem was bordering on being their older brother/ sister’s favorite artist, but ‘Love the Way You Lie’ has not only re-excited Em’s existing fans — now mostly in their mid-20s to mid-40s — but reintroduced him to new generation of teenagers for whom Relapse didn’t register.”
New York Times music writer Jon Caramanica for thinks Em’s fanbase has also been starved. In a sense, they’ve been waiting for something worth buying from him. “Eminem has been around for long enough to develop different pockets of fans: total loyalists, casual listeners, people who like only specific songs or sorts of songs,” he explained. “That he’s continuing to sell week after week is reflective of the fact that all of these groups don’t get activated at the same time. There are still people out there who might buy an Eminem album but haven’t, and each week, it seems, a few more do.”
But can Em’s reign at the top continue? “I believe Em has a couple more weeks on top of the charts, even if he gets knocked out of #1 a few times before October 1st,” Vibe Editorial Director Datwon Thomas said. “He has two mega-concerts where he’s headlining a hometown show with Jay-Z in Detroit and then opening for Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium in New York. The amount of media and fan fervor for these events alone will spur people to grab both artists’ albums from their respective catalogs. [And] if Em can build on that momentum and release another smash of a hit from this album, he’ll be OK well into the holiday season.”
Working his album through Christmas seems like it might be an option, if only because his record label, Aftermath/Interscope, appears committed to going the whole 12 rounds with Recovery. “Nowadays, [labels] push [albums] until the first-week sales and then generally abandon ship,” Callahan-Bever said. “With Recovery, it’s clear that Interscope knew they had a record with legs and went out of their way to push it. ‘Love the Way You Lie’ just connects to people in that really special, emotive way that only one or two pop songs a year do, and that is just undeniable.”
