Would Lindsay Lohan Be Helped By A Conservatorship?
Troubled actress’ family reportedly looking into taking over her affairs.By Gil Kaufman

It looks like troubled actress Lindsay Lohan might be borrowing a page out of the Britney Spears playbook. Much like Spears, who emerged from a troubled period of erratic behavior, legal problems and forced hospitalization thanks to a strict conservatorship overseen by her father, Lohan’s family is reportedly considering putting a similar program in place to help her get her stalled career, and life, back on track in light of her latest trip to rehab.
Spears began to emerge from a dangerous career spiral in early 2008 when her father was named conservator of her estate, giving him control over the management of her personal and financial affairs, as well as her health care. In Spears’ case, that power extends to hiring security guards, removing people from his daughter’s residence, approving or revoking contracts on her behalf and having access to her medical records and limiting who can visit her in the hospital.
CNN reported Thursday (September 30) that following Lohan’s decision to check into rehab this week in the wake of her recent jailing for a failed drug test, her estranged father, Michael Lohan, is considering a similar program. Michael was slated to meet with a lawyer on Thursday as preparation for an appearance before the judge in Lindsay’s case to ask that he give approval for two conservators to assume control over Lindsay’s day-to-day affairs.
In the typical chaos that surrounds the fractured Lohan family, though, Michael was reportedly rushing to file conservatorship papers before his ex-wife, Dina Lohan, and Lindsay’s manager, Lou Taylor (who has also worked with Britney), file their own request to serve as Lindsay’s conservators.
“Since Dina and Lou are going to try to be co-conservators, I had a choice of fighting it or petitioning for the purpose of appointing two conservators who don’t have an interest in Lindsay’s money, but rather her as a person and human being,” Michael Lohan said. His plan calls for one conservator to oversee Lindsay’s finances and another to handle the more personal aspects of her life, from what she eats and wears to where she lives and who she can associate with.
“I just want Lindsay’s life and career to be guided by people who are in it with their hearts, not their hands,” Michael Lohan said.
Lindsay checked into rehab in Southern California on Monday and is expected to remain there until a probation violation hearing on October 22, at which point it’s possible a judge could send her back to jail for the positive drug test, which violates the terms of the actress’ probation.
Spears was back in court herself Thursday for a meeting with a judge to review the status of her conservatorship. TMZ reported that the brief meeting resulted in Judge Reba Goetz saying that “at this time, all orders will remain in full force and effect.”
By most accounts, Spears has thrived under the reportedly very strict measure enforced by her father, Jamie, in her conservatorship, getting her musical career back on track and mounting one of the most successful tours of 2009.

Tony Curtis Dead At 85
“Some Like it Hot” star and father of Jamie Lee Curtis suffered cardiac arrest.By Gil Kaufman

From sword-and-sandal epics to the most famous drag show in movie history, Hollywood legend Tony Curtis did it all during his long career on the screen. The actor died on Wednesday in his Las Vegas of cardiac arrest at the age of 85.
Though he earned an Oscar nomination for his role as a an escaped convict in 1958′s “The Defiant Ones,” Curtis is best remembered for his role alongside Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe in Billy Wilder’s 1959 comedy classic “Some Like It Hot.” A dashing ladies man with a reputation for a wandering eye, Curtis donned women’s clothes in the movie to play a jazz musician on the run from the mob who, along with cohort Lemmon, makes the acquaintance of singer Sugar Kane (Monroe). Hilarity ensues.
Through more than 140 movies Curtis was the 1950s equivalent of a modern metrosexual, known for his sculpted pompadour hair, dreamy blue eyes and dashing looks, which accompanied what the New York Times described in an obituary as a “dramatically potent combination of naked ambition and deep vulnerability, both likely products of his Dickensian childhood in the Bronx.”
Curtis, the son of Jewish immigrants from Hungary, was born Bernard Schwartz in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, on June 3, 1925. Father Emanuel owned a tailor shop, behind which the family lived in cramped quarters. Mother Helen was a schizophrenic who often beat Curtis and his two brothers. When his parents couldn’t provide for their children during the Great Depression, Curtis and one of his brothers were put in a state institution in 1933, and the actor often spoke of the rabid anti-Semitism he suffered when he returned to his old neighborhood. Younger brother Julius died at age 12 after being struck by a car.
Following a stint in the Navy during World War II, Curtis began acting lessons in New York and quickly landed a contract with Universal Pictures in 1948, beginning a string of small movie roles that led up to 1952′s “No Room for the Groom,” in which he first showed off his ace comedic timing.
Off screen, Curtis was legendary for his way with women, which resulted in six marriages and liaisons with such Hollywood icons as Monroe and Natalie Wood. His first marriage in 1951 was to actress Janet Leigh, his co-star in 1953′s “Houdini,” Curtis’ first box office hit. Popular, but not taken seriously, Curtis finally gained notice for his acting chops in 1957′s “Sweet Smell of Success,” which he followed up with “The Defiant Ones,” portraying a prisoner who escapes a Southern chain gang while shackled to fellow convict Sidney Poitier. As the civil rights movement was just gaining steam, the sight of the black and white actors chained together was a potent symbol for the nation’s upcoming struggles and earned Curtis his only recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
He went on to a string of successful starring roles in the late 1950s and 1960s, including “Operation Petticoat,” “Spartacus,” “The Outsider” and “The Great Race.” His career was thrown off track in 1962 when he divorced Leigh — with whom he had daughter Jamie Lee Curtis — after an affair with a 17-year-old German actress named Christine Kaufmann, whom he married the next year. That marriage only lasted five years. Curtis gave it another shot shortly after divorcing Kaufmann in 1968 when he married 23-year-old model Leslie Allen.
The 1970s found Curtis retreating to undistinguished roles in TV shows, such as “The Persuaders” and “Vegas,” and a few B-movies. An admitted drinker and addict, Curtis went to rehab in 1982 following his divorce from Allen. He continued to pop up in small films and pursue his second love, painting.
His final film appearance was in the 2008 indie “David & Fatima,” in which he played a character named Mr. Schwartz.

Young Jeezy Gets The Last Laugh With New Mixtape
Boo Rossini says the Snowman’s much-delayed TM103 is ‘almost done cooking.’By Jayson Rodriguez

Young Jeezy’s Spidey sense must have been going off. The Atlanta rapper’s abilities have been doubted lately, as the lead-up to his forthcoming album TM103 has been postponed several times. The rousing rapper has had his musical abilities questioned after a string of poorly received records.
Then the Snowman dropped “Rap Game” and “Amen” earlier this week and turned the tables on his critics.
On Tuesday evening, Jeezy delivered a new mixtape, The Last Laugh, via his USDA2Day website.
The rapper’s U.S.D.A. affiliate Boo Rossini told MTV News on Tuesday that Jeezy is about to shock those who thought he slipped.
“Right now, the main focus is Young,” Boo, who is promoting his new record “100 (Live By It, Die By It),” told MTV News. “He’s gonna kill them when he drops. He’s almost done cooking, so watch out for that.
After that, we got the U.S.D.A. project, and I’m working this single. We going into the new year trying to smash it.”
In May, Jeezy dropped Trap or Die 2: By Any Means Necessary with DJ Don Cannon.
He’s also released the TM103 singles “Jizzle,” “Lose My Mind” with Plies and “All White Everything” featuring Yo Gotti.
His album was slated for a September release, but the scheduled date has come and gone.
According to Boo, the Snowman is on top of his game.
“That ain’t nothing but motivation, though,” he said of the chatter. “That’s what we thrive off of. ‘Cause the odds, we always been the underdogs. … That does nothing but add fuel to the fire, that’s all that’s doing.”

Arthur Penn, ‘Bonnie And Clyde’ Director, Dies
Pioneer, 88, ‘paved the way for the new generation of American directors,’ writer/director Paul Schrader says.By Kara Warner

Revolutionary theater, television and film director Arthur Penn died Tuesday at his home in New York City, just one day after celebrating his 88th birthday. The The New York Times reports that the director, perhaps most well-known for 1967′s “Bonnie and Clyde,” passed away from congestive heart failure.
The Times calls Penn “a pioneering director of live television drama in the 1950s and a Broadway powerhouse in the 1960s,” and praises his ability to develop an “intimate, spontaneous and physically oriented method of directing actors that allowed their work to register across a range of mediums.”
Penn was born on September 27, 1922, in Philadelphia. He began his career in television and made a name for himself in 1957 with the production of “The Miracle Worker,” adapted from the stage for television on CBS’ “Playhouse 90,” for which he earned an Emmy nomination.
Two years later, Penn took “The Miracle Worker” to Broadway, and he and star Anne Bancroft were awarded Tonys. In 1962, he directed the feature-film version with Bancroft, who went on to win the Oscar for Best Actress, alongside a young Patty Duke, who picked up a statue for Best Supporting Actress.
Penn also advised then-Senator John F. Kennedy during his debates with Richard Nixon in 1960 and directed the broadcast of the third debate.
All of these events led up to his most memorable work, directing Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in “Bonnie and Clyde.”
“Arthur Penn brought the sensibility of ’60s European art films to American movies,” writer/director Paul Schrader told The New York Times. “He paved the way for the new generation of American directors who came out of film schools.”
Penn continued to work in film, television and theater with some of the biggest and brightest names in the business, though none of those projects reached the level of critical mass as “Bonnie and Clyde” had done. His last theatrically released film was the apartheid drama “Inside,” in 1996. Penn served as an executive producer on several episodes of “Law and Order” in his later years, followed by one of his final theatrical productions, “Fortune’s Fool,” which earned Tonys for Alan Bates and Frank Langella in 2002.
Penn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Maurer, a son, Matthew, a daughter, Molly, and four grandsons.

The Situation’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Skills: Ronnie Weighs In
‘Mike has legs, so does a chair — it doesn’t mean the chair can dance, right?’ ‘Jersey Shore’ castmate quips.By Eric Ditzian

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino barely escaped with his reality-show life Tuesday evening on “Dancing With the Stars.” Only Michael Bolton and his gangly jive saved Sitch’s hide from elimination, as the “Jersey Shore” star will live to toe-tap another week.
Perhaps the Situation has one of his castmates to thank, because Ronnie has vowed to vote for his roommate — regardless of his actual dancing talents.
“I’m going to support him in every way,” Ronnie told MTV News. “I’m going to send him a text, the vote text. I’ll vote for Mike.
“I’ll send, like, three texts — it’s like $1.50,” he added with a sly smile. “How much you really want me to spend on you, Mike?”
On second thought, the Situation might want to hold off on a thank-you and tell Ronnie to start texting votes with the same enthusiasm he reserved for flirting with Jell-O-shot-serving waitresses early this season on “Shore.” But Ronnie might not be so convinced Mike has what it takes to win “DWTS.”
“Mike has legs, so does a chair — it doesn’t mean the chair can dance, right?” Ronnie reasoned.
Ouch. Ronnie’s off-and-on gal pal Sammi was considerably more kind when we asked her about the Situation’s skills. “He can’t really dance, but I know he can fist-pump,” she said during an earlier interview.
“We’ll support him,” Vinny told us.
And that’s exactly what Ronnie made clear to us too. After all the good-natured razzing he threw the Situation’s way, he told us he’ll be pulling for his roomie to win.
“I know he’s going to try his best and do the best of his ability, and he’s going to represent the ‘Jersey Shore’ family,” he said.
Are you rooting for the Situation on “Dancing With the Stars”? Let us know in the comments!
Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

New Kanye West Track, ‘Lost In The World,’ Leaks Online
Song samples Bon Iver and Gil Scott-Heron.By Jayson Rodriguez

Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images
A third track from Kanye West’s forthcoming album, tentatively due November 22, leaked online Wednesday morning (September 29). The haunting “Lost in the World” samples Bon Iver’s “Woods” and includes lyrics the rapper recited during a visit to Rolling Stone magazine that was posted on YouTube.
“Lost in the World” follows “Power” and “Runaway.” The latter was also recited by West at the RS offices and premiered during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
Like the previous two tracks, “Lost in the World” features weightier lyrics from ‘Ye than the material he’s been releasing weekly as part of the G.O.O.D. Fridays series on his blog.
The new song is topped off with the vocals from Gil Scott-Heron’s fiery spoken-word number “Comment #1.”
On the Auto-Tune heavy track, West harmonizes on the chorus an interpolation of Bon Iver’s “Woods”: “I’m lost in the world, been down my whole life, I’m new in the city, but I’m down for the night.”
“You’re my devil, you’re my angel,” he begins the song. “You’re my heaven, you’re my hell/ You’re my now, you’re my forever/ You’re my freedom, you’re my jail/ You’re my lies, you’re my truth/ You’re my war, you’re my truce/ You’re my questions, you’re my proof/ You’re my stress, you’re my masseuse.”
The track clocks in at just under six minutes and features a number of musical changes throughout the production. The song starts off faintly with the Bon Iver vocoder-tinged sample before pulsating drums pick up the tempo. Midway through, however, the song slows down to a measured tempo as Scott-Heron’s vocals fire through the beat.
“Who will survive in America,” Scott-Heron’s voice chants over and over before the song ends with a mild hand-clap.

Michael Jackson’s Nephew Austin Brown Releases First Single
‘I can’t help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create,’ Austin Brown says.By Steven Roberts
Austin Brown
Photo: MTV News
The name Austin Brown may not ring any bells, but he is the youngest son of Rebbie “Centipede” Jackson, and, of course, the nephew of the late Michael Jackson. Brown, a talented and versatile singer, songwriter, producer and dancer, is ready to carry on the Jackson family business for the next generation. But he isn’t necessarily looking to live off the family’s fame.
“Music is in my heart,” Brown said. “It’s what I love to do. I can’t help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create.”
Brown said he grew up listening to everything from Boyz II Men and George Michael to the Beatles. And while such a diverse musical taste isn’t uncommon with the iPod generation of today, the singer said he loved to sit around and dissect what makes each artist special. He’d listen and wonder what about the Beatles inspired Brian Wilson’s (of the Beach Boys) work, which in turn inspired the Beatles.
Brown also loves to perform, which he said started when his mom first took him onstage. “She was doing a show in Japan and I was about 3,” said Brown. “When I first looked up, there was all of these things onstage — gargoyles and all this weird stuff at the club. And I got scared and kind of ran off, but I paused when I ran off. So my mom tried it again the next day, and I danced my heart off after that.”
Some 20 years later, Brown has teamed up with super-producer Rodney Jerkins and is set to release his debut album, 85. The title represents what Brown has learned from music throughout his life.
“He had the vision,” explained Jerkins. “He said, ‘It’s going to be called 85.’ Why 85? ‘Because that was the year I was born and in ’85 this artist came out, and the music sounded like this. We’ve got to be inspired by this.’ The whole thing we kept trying to do was create a sound that makes you want to dance and feel good.”
The album’s first single, “Target Practice,” debuted Monday on Brown’s website, and the video will follow. Brown said it doesn’t look anything short of stunning.
“It was directed by a man by the name of Tom DeSanto, who is the producer of ‘Transformers’ and ‘X-Men,’ and it was such a blessing to get him for my first video,” he said.
“He’s downplaying it for me,” Jerkins said. “Your first video and you’ve got the producer of ‘Transformers’? How did you get him from the movie world? Most people go from making music videos to the movie world. He’s coming from the movie world to the video world.”

Michael Bolton Sings His Swan Song On ‘Dancing With The Stars’
But the hot topic of the night was whether Monday’s audience was booing Sarah Palin.By Kelley L. Carter
Chelsie Hightower and Michael Bolton
Photo: ABC
The elimination of crooner Michael Bolton from “Dancing With the Stars” was not exactly the hot topic of Tuesday night’s episode.
Before Bolton got the hook on the dance competition, the thing that folks seemed to be more interested in was why, and at whom, the audience booed during Monday night’s show. Host Tom Bergeron called the moment “boo-gate,” and producers aired raw footage from Monday night, wanting to clear up the idea that the jeering was aimed at former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Instead, people were booing the judges for giving Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough a round of eights. In the footage, audience members could be heard shouting “Nine! Nine!” in the background.
“Sarah Palin told me before the show that she was surprised by all the controversy, because she was booing you too. So there,” Bergeron joked to the judges. Palin was once again in the crowd on Tuesday night, cheering on daughter Bristol.
After that was cleared up, and following a performance by Janelle Monae and Seal, it was announced that Bolton was being sent home. He seemed none too pleased about it.
On Monday night, judge Bruno Tonioli called Bolton’s performance “the worst jive I’ve ever seen” and gave the singer just three points. Carrie Ann Inaba gave him four and Len Goodman gave him five, for a total of 12 out of 30, the lowest of the season so far.
Bolton said that it had been an incredible experience, but that Monday night, Bruno was inappropriate and disrespectful. Other than that, it was a phenomenal experience.
The singer also added that he’s disappointed to be going home, and his partner, Chelsie Hightower, said that it had been a pleasure to work with him.
Next week, the celebrities will have to tell a story in their performance.

Lil Wayne Posts Birthday Blog
Rapper, who turns 28, titled the post ‘This Blessed Day of Mine.’By Jayson Rodriguez

Lil Wayne is a year older and almost a month away from being released from jail, so in honor of the moment, the rapper wrote his latest blog post, titled “This Blessed Day of Mine.”
In the birthday post, his seventh post since he began his prison term, Wayne updated his fans on his day-to-day activities and low expectations about his appearance. Wayne joked that all the athletic activity he’s been doing won’t result in a larger physical frame for him. “Still doing pushups and such. By the way, please don’t expect me to come out looking any different,” Wayne wrote in the post, which featured a picture of a birthday cake with his name on it. “I’m the same little ‘ol me.”
The Cash Money Records superstar said his days consist mostly of watching ESPN and listening to local New York radio stations. He shouted out WBLS jocks Keith Stewart and Dr. Bob Lee as well as Kiss FM’s Lenny Green.
According to Weezy, his radio jones is a result of Eric Benet’s latest, “Sometimes I Cry,” of which he wrote, “It’s the best song I’ve heard since Maxwell’s ‘Woman’s [Work].’ It’s for grown folk. I actually listen to the radio all day waiting for that song.”
Toward the end of the note, Wayne thanked his Cash Money/ Young Money crew and took a second to poke fun at his protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj over their ill-fated Twitter union.
“Uhh Nik, I am jealous of you and Drizzy, but it’s cool,” he wrote. “Ha ha. I miss you all and keep killin’ ‘em. I love y’all.”
On Monday, Wayne’s actual birthday, he phoned in to MTV’s new show “The Seven” and spoke with Drake live on air.

Jimmy Eat World Didn’t ‘Censor’ Themselves On Invented
‘It’s always just about fleshing out an idea to as far as we can take it,’ frontman Jim Adkins tells MTV News.By James Montgomery

On Tuesday (September 28), Jimmy Eat World return with Invented, their first album in nearly three years and the first since they rather rightfully assumed their position as figureheads of angsty, punk-influenced (don’t call it “emo”) rock.
Whether this happened thanks to the success of their Clarity x 10 Tour, held in honor of the 10th anniversary of their criminally underappreciated 1999 album, or the continued championing of their catalog by acts like Paramore, or even the simple fact that — unlike similar bands like the Promise Ring and Jets to Brazil — Jimmy Eat World are still churning out albums, there’s no denying that the band’s status has been upped significantly in recent years. Though, it might not surprise you to know that Jimmy Eat World don’t necessarily agree with this assessment.
“I mean, I suppose in ‘rock-star years,’ we’ve sort of become figureheads,” frontman Jim Adkins laughed. “It’s flattering when other musicians take the time to acknowledge you and say they respect your work. I’m flattered by that. [Paramore's] Hayley [Williams] is a sweet girl, and it’s a big compliment.”
So rather than rest on those (supposed) laurels, Adkins decided to shake up the very foundation of Jimmy Eat World when it came time to write Invented. Rather than proceed in the same manner he had been for nearly two decades, he took a brand-new approach to penning songs this time around: the oft-dreaded “writing exercise,” inspired by the work of photographers Hannah Starkey and Cindy Sherman.
“I started flipping through their photography books, and the work I was going through was based on one central figure or maybe a small group. It’s composed things, there’s a cinematic look to it, there’s a scene, but nothing is explained for you,” Adkins said. “So what I would do was take a little bit of time and kind of just free-write about any aspect that came to mind about it. You know, like, who these people are, what decisions they might be making in that moment, who are the people they might be looking at off camera.
“The idea wasn’t to get material for Jimmy Eat World songs, it was just to get your brain working,” he continued. “But then, as we would go on and work on our own material, some of the more interesting ideas from those sessions started creeping in to those songs, and after a while, there was enough of those ideas that became songs that the rest of the band was really liking, and that kind of became the majority of the record.”
And teeming with that same sense of exploration, Invented is the band’s best album in nearly a decade (since their breakout Bleed American, for sure). It’s by turns raucous and ringing (first single “My Best Theory”), mellow and centered (“Heart Is Hard to Find”) and even spacious and soaring (album-closer “Mixtape”), the product of a reinvigorated band that’s not quite willing to accept the whole “figurehead” thing just yet. Truth be told, right now, Jimmy Eat World would settle for just being another band. And this record is proof of that.
“I think the record … it’s kind of all over the place. Our roots are in guitar-based rock, and the fun guitar riffs to play, [they're] exciting to play. … There’s also really, really mellow things on the record; it’s kind of up and down,” Adkins said. “In writing and recording, we don’t censor ourselves when we’re coming up with new ideas; it’s always just about fleshing out an idea to as far as we can take it. And then, later on, when it comes time for us to decide which tunes are going to be an album, it’s always based on ‘What do we feel are the strongest songs?’ … It can be anything, as long as we feel like it’s a good song.”

Godsmack Frontman Sheds Metal Rage For Ethereal Avalon
Sully Erna explains why his world-music-infused solo album is his ‘baby.’By Jon Wiederhorn

Nearly five months after its release, the sonic punch of Godsmack’s third album to debut at #1, The Oracle, is still leaving bruises (the latest single “Love-Hate-Sex-Pain” is perched at #15 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart) and the band is currently supporting the record on a major tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Drowning Pool. But for the moment at least, frontman Sully Erna is more excited about his recently released world-music-inflected solo album, Avalon, which debuted at #24 on this week’s Billboard 200.
“Godsmack will always be my main priority. I know that, but right now, Avalon is my baby,” Erna said on a break between tour dates. “It’s a complete departure from Godsmack, and that’s why I love it so much. As a musician, I like to express different sides of myself, and this is way more intellectual and eclectic and primal than what I usually do. It’s the kind of thing you’ll really want to stop what you’re doing when you put it on to listen to.”
The lead vocals on Oracle are instantly recognizable as Erna. The rest of the album is more otherworldly, flush with tribal drumming, plaintive acoustic guitar strums, layered vocal harmonies and gliding cello. Many of the songs ache with vulnerability, others shimmer with a near-goth mysticism. In loose terms, the album sounds like acoustic Alice in Chains and Led Zeppelin (Erna’s two favorite bands), combined with elements of Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd and Dead Can Dance.
The approach isn’t entirely unprecedented for Erna. Over the years, Godsmack have released tribal and acoustic songs such as “Voodoo” and “Serenity,” and in 2004 the band released the unplugged album The Other Side. With Avalon, however, Erna takes his fascination with Native American, African and Brazilian percussion, ethereal keyboards and monochromatic jams to new heights.
“The hardest thing about doing this record was finding a common pulse, because all the songs were written over a number of years and they’re all different,” Erna says. “I really wanted this to be something that flows together as a single body of work, not just a bunch of singles, so it was kind of a challenge to make everything connect. If I owned a record store and I got this album, I wouldn’t know where to put it because it’s not like anything else that’s out there.”
Avalon features a multitude of guest musicians, including Dead Can Dance percussionist Niall Gregory, multi-octave vocalist Lisa Guyer and Bulgarian cellist Irina Chirkova, who provide extra flair and dynamics.
“I met Niall at a Dead Can Dance show, and we kept in touch,” Erna said. “I was reluctant to approach him at first, because I didn’t know if this was something he’d be interested in, but he was totally into it, and that gave me a lot of confidence. Lisa is a friend who I met years ago who has an amazing voice, and she lent so much to the album.”
As cohesively as the majestic song “Sinner’s Prayer” flows together with the haunting “The Departed” or the melancholy guitar ballad “My Light,” Oracle was neither smooth nor easy to create. Erna started arranging songs in late 2007 and spent over a year recording the album at Sanctum Sound studio in Boston and mixing at Serenity West studio in Hollywood.
“It was definitely a process, and it was sometimes a pain in the neck,” Erna said. “Scheduling everything was really tough. I’d be arranging and composing something, and I’d realize you need a cello player for a certain part, so it’s a matter of calling the right person in to do their parts and making sure they’re available. That happened over and over. But everyone on there is a top-notch player and together we recorded a beautiful album.”

Kid Cudi Enters Guilty Plea On Drug Charges
Rapper’s plea deal stems from his June arrest in New York City and includes two days community service.By Gil Kaufman

Kid Cudi entered a guilty plea on a misdemeanor charge of drug possession in connection with a June arrest in New York. According to TMZ, the Cleveland rapper pleaded guilty on Friday to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and was sentenced to two days of community service. He must also avoid arrest for the next six months as part of his plea deal and show proof of service at his next scheduled hearing in March.
Kanye West protégé Cudi (born Scott Ramon Mescudi), 26, was arrested on June 11 in Manhattan and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance after authorities were called to respond to a disturbance involving the rapper and an unidentified woman. The MC has made no secret of his appreciation for marijuana in the past, but earlier this month he opened up about the arrest and his use of cocaine.
“People wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn’t prepared for a ’60 Minutes’ interview every time,” Cudi told Complex magazine. “Doing bumps [of cocaine], I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down — it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it.”
He told the magazine that he began using cocaine to help him get through interviews and that while he never felt it was a problem, there were moment when he felt he was “high-fiving” death.
“It was really just like, ‘Man, you got it f—ing going on, and you were about to piss it all away for some bullsh–,’ ” he said about the feeling he had when he left court after his arrest. “Everywhere I go, people be looking at me like I’m some type of f—ing crackhead now. Nobody wants to have their f—ing name attached to a maniac, to a f—up, so everyone distances themselves.”
Cudi’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager is tentatively due in October.

Taylor Swift May Replace Lindsay Lohan In ‘One Night With You’
Lohan is reportedly being dropped from the film due to her ongoing legal struggles.By Jocelyn Vena

Taylor Swift is reportedly being considered to replace Lindsay Lohan in one of her upcoming movies, the romantic comedy “One Night With You.”
Swift, who has appeared in movies like “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” and “Valentine’s Day,” could take over the female lead in the flick about a starlet who joins a reality dating show in an attempt to save her career. But, as in most romantic comedies, things don’t go as planned when instead she falls for a bartender who happens to hate all things Hollywood. A love/hate relationship ensues between the two.
“It appears the romantic comedy may finally be off the table for Lindsay Lohan. The producers had actually talked to Taylor Swift’s agent a few months back about replacing Lindsay, but Taylor was in the middle of her tour,” a source said, according to WENN. “Now that Lindsay can’t conquer her troubles, they’re taking the offer back to Taylor.”
Swift’s film rep had not responded to MTV News by press time about the report. But Swift stated earlier this year that her focus was on her music, not making movies. Her new album, Speak Now, is due out in October.
“I’m not making movies right now. I’m making music. That’s always been my number-one love,” Swift said back in June. “It’s been so cool to be able to be a part of things that have been really fun, like being in ‘Valentine’s Day’ and getting to guest-star in ‘CSI.’ I feel like I get to do these little mini-movies when I make music videos, so that kind of fulfills that little need or desire. But if I ever get time, I might like to [act again].”
Regardless of her current status on “One Night With You,” Swift was recently seen sporting a basketball uniform, which she reportedly wore for a part in “Todd vs. High School,” co-starring Jason Segal.
Lohan, meanwhile, is still onboard to star in the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno,” despite repeated delays in filming caused by the actress’ ongoing legal troubles.
