During ‘RapFix Live,’ MC says versions by Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg ‘made the song even bigger.’

Wiz Khalifa might have been bummed that Lil Wayne didn’t mention the rapper by name when he was interviewed about his “Black and Yellow” remix, but during Wednesday’s (March 30) “RapFix Live,” the Pittsburgh MC called Weezy’s version — along with remixes by Snoop Dogg and others — a “big honor.”

“I know when you’re an artist and you got songs on the radio, you figure that people hear it, but to know that someone heard it, went and got the beat and flowed to it,” Wiz told MTV News’ Sway. “I know that process. It was definitely a big honor. Snoop did ‘Purp and Yellow’ — that was big and it turned it from the Steelers [anthem] to the Lakers and made the song even bigger. That worked for me too.”

During the mtvU Woodies, Wiz downplayed the situation between him and Wayne.

“I feel like people have a chance to speak out and acknowledge younger people or people who are grinding and coming up in the game, and they don’t always take the opportunity,” he said. “That’s all that was.

“There’s plenty of people who’ve missed that opportunity, there’s plenty of people who went back and taken that opportunity when they missed it,” Wiz added. “It’s never too late. It wasn’t anything negative; it just is what it is. That’s the type of person I am. I’m a realistic person, so I tend to say realistic things.”

Sill, Wiz said he was open to working with Weezy.

“Everything has to be organic and natural. I’m not gonna do anything with anybody that I don’t sit down with and share points of view and chop it up,” Wiz said. “That’s really important to me.”

When Katy Perry’s “E.T.” video, featuring Kanye West, premieres on MTV and MTV.com on Thursday, fans should expect a decidedly cinematic experience.

“With Teenage Dream, the record in whole, I knew I wanted to give so many different flavors, so many different ideas, and just make a different ‘movie’ for each song,” Perry told MTV News of her latest album, which has already spawned clips for “California Gurls,” “Firework” and the title track. “I feel like I’ve done that.”

The “E.T.” video will premiere at noon Thursday on MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com. Then, “MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’ ” will bow on air at 7:53 p.m. ET before tossing to an MTV.com live stream, featuring MTV News correspondent Sway’s exclusive chat with Perry, an interview with director Floria Sigismondi and reaction from Perry’s fans.

Perry has noticed a shift in public opinion about her with the release of each Teenage Dream video, and she’s thinking “E.T.” will be no exception.

“It’s interesting to see a lot of the commentary that goes along with growth,” she marveled. “People are like, ‘OK, I like her,’ finally, or like, ‘Damn, I hate to admit it, but we’re on the Katy Perry train,’ which is really exciting, and i feel like I worked really hard for that.

“I knew starting with ‘I Kissed a Girl’ that it might have taken a little bit longer to get everybody just onboard the Katy Perry train, I guess,” she added. “But now, I’m having so much fun and I get to be so creative and try different things and expand, and I never play it safe — in any way, really.”

Nate Dogg was laid to rest this past weekend in his hometown of Long Beach, California. Several artists came to pay their last respects, including Dr. Dre, Daz and Kurupt. They gathered alongside the G-Funk crooner’s friends and family on a gloomy Saturday morning. At his funeral, an emotional Snoop Dogg spoke about how the two attended the same high school.

“1986, Poly High School, that’s where we connected for the first time,” Snoop reflected on his friend. “We didn’t know each other, but the music connected us. We built a brotherhood, a friendship.”

On Monday (March 28), MTV News caught up with Snoop after his appearance on “The Seven,” and he elaborated on what his friendship with Nate meant to him.

“As a friend, Nate Dogg, was like a brother, a homey, someone who understood Snoop Dogg, someone who understood the struggle of Snoop Dogg, because he was a part of the struggle of Snoop Dogg. We created a group, 213: me, him and Warren G, back in the late ’80s that spawned our careers.”

The rapper and the crooner collaborated frequently throughout their careers, recording G-Funk hits like “It Ain’t No Fun” and “Bitch Please,” but for Snoop it was all about the time they spent together coming up.

“His friendship meant so much to me, because it was more about before we made records, as opposed to when people [saw] us in the limelight. It was the things he did for me as a friend before I had a record deal. The belief he had in me as an artist, as a homey, and just staying down and sticking to the rules of the game. That’s what made Nate so genuine.”

As MTV’s Musical March Madness reaches the Sweet 16, there are no more easy matchups remaining — though, of any band still standing, perhaps none faces a tougher road to the Elite Eight than Blink-182, who find themselves up against a resilient Green Day in the West region.

After all, in their run to the Sweet 16, Green Day have more than lived up to their #3 seed, vanquishing the likes of Adam Lambert and U2, and now, they’d like to add Blink’s name to that list. So, with Sweet 16 voting set to close Tuesday at midnight — and with the pressure clearly mounting — we asked Blink’s Mark Hoppus to give us his take on Green Day and his band’s chances of reaching the MMM Elite Eight.

“We’re really honored to be in the Sweet 16. But now we’ve got to go up against Green Day, another West Coast team, [and they're] really strong,” he said. “Coming off of this break, before coming into this tournament, our live game is a little off right now, so we’ve been working on that a lot. Green Day obviously, they have their new [live] album, so they have their road chops up, so it’s gonna be rough … we’re going to have to bring our best game for sure.”

Still, despite his assessment, Hoppus seems to be ignoring the fact that Blink are actually the favorites in their battle against Green Day. After all, not only are they tournament-tested (having already bested All Time Low and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to reach the Sweet 16), but they match up surprisingly well against the East Bay legends. So, really, this one may come down to one simple factor: sheer willpower.

“It’s a really strong matchup. Each of them is amazing at their game,” Hoppus said. “Billie [Joe Armstrong], he’s always a team leader, always boxing out, always getting the tough scores. So, really, we’re going to have to cover Billie as best as we can. I think that Travis [Barker] has Tre [Cool] pretty well covered. Me and Mike [Dirnt] I’d say is a dead heat. It’s going to be who wants it more, for sure.”

But at the end of the day, only one band can advance to the Elite Eight, so Hoppus is relying on his secret weapon to help put Blink over the top: the band’s die-hard fans.

“There’s no home-team advantage for anybody, so we really need the support of our fans to come out, vote for us, give us that extra energy we need on the court to come up with this win, because it’s going to be a hard one,” he said. “I gotta be honest: I love Green Day. They’re all great guys, so it’s going to come down to the fans.”

MTV’s Musical March Madness has reached the Sweet 16! Voting is now open and will continue until Tuesday at midnight, when we’ll roll on to the Elite Eight. All winners are determined by your votes, so if your favorite act is still standing, it’s up to you to guide them to glory. Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale album, due out on Tuesday, is a sexy, dark dance record meant to be played heading to the club, at the club and at the post-party after the club. One of the tracks that exemplifies this is the fiery, Claude Kelly-penned “Gasoline.” Kelly conceived of the searing dance tune while thinking of Britney’s sexiest moments.

“The picture that I envisioned in my mind was ‘Toxic,’ ‘Slave 4 U,’ ‘Boys,’ like that kind of [thing where] it’s sexy and it’s hot, sweaty and she’s in a club and she sees a guy,” he explained to MTV News. “That mysterious, exotic look, that whole imagery and that era where she’s a man-eater and all the girls want to be her and all the guys would kill to be with her. I think she pulled it off for sure.”

Kelly also wrote the title track off of Spears’ 2008 album, Circus, but this time around he wanted to take things to a new level. “I’m super happy with the way it came out. She sounds fresh and exciting,” he said of the track, which was recorded in L.A. while Kelly was busy working on other projects elsewhere.

“For this time, she’s in a place where she wants to be edgier again, so I was like, ‘How am I going to make the word gasoline a cool song?’ ” he recalled. “That’s really the challenge for me and I tried to play off what I know of Britney from the past, from the Blackout era, when she was more mysterious and dark.

“The one thing that kind of strings all of [the songs] along is that feeling of edginess and mysterious and sexy and a little bit playful but a little bit dangerous,” he continued. “If you can tap into what she’s in the mood for, which is what happened with ‘Gasoline,’ clearly her mind was in the zone that ‘I want to be edgy.’ ”

The party never stops on Femme Fatale, and Kelly is sure that the fans will be happy about that. “The most common thing I hear people say about Britney is ‘I want to dance.’ Girls love to dance to Britney,” he said. “I think people missed that and wanted that … This one was like, ‘Let’s her in the clubs again.’ ”

Continuing to spend time out east, Kim Kardashian was spotted keeping busy in New York City on Monday afternoon (March 28).

The E! reality star looked stylish sexy in a black beanie, beige and tan blouse, black thigh high boots, denim jeans and a black leather jacket as she made her way around the Big Apple locale.

Meanwhile, Kim has just announced that fans can spend the day with her for the right price – with all of the money going to Japan relief.

She tweeted, “Help those suffering in #Japan by bidding to hang with me for the day in #NYC! Bid @charitybuzz http://bit.ly/hHnYfF @UNICEF Pls RT!”

With the bidding coming to an end on April 7th at 2PM ET, the current bid is at $2,750 with the total sure to rise to a lofty price before auction’s end.

‘You are all the present I need in the world,’ she tweets to fans upon turning 25.

On Monday (March 28), Lady Gaga reached another milestone in her life, turning 25. And it seems that all her pals didn’t forget their Queen Bee on her big day. In fact, the singer even got some birthday love from … herself.

“Drawing on table at restaurant. If I had to give it all back, but got to keep my fans, that’d be ok,” she wrote on Twitter. She included a photo of a drawing she made that reads “Happy Birthday Me” with hearts all around it.

As a birthday treat, her fans trended the hash tag “#bornthisday” in honor of their Mother Monster. In another tweet, she thanked her fans for making her a trending topic on Twitter in honor of her big day. “Thank you for trending #BornThisDay monsters! The sweetest tweet! You are all the present I need in the world. I’ll be 25 in about 4 hrs!”

Her “Born This Way” producer, Fernando Garibay, also tweeted some love for Gaga. “Happy Birthday @ladygaga; cause you were Born This Day!!!!” Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s loyal stylist and Thierry Mugler creative director, teased the kind of fun the group was having in honor of Gaga. “So much fun!!!” he wrote. “What a party!! happy birth day my love, gaga!!! #mother monster.”

Fellow Gaga collaborator DJ White Shadow, who worked on the track “Government Hooker,” shared a similar sentiment, adding, “Fun birthday party tonight.”

Gaga pal Perez Hilton, who celebrated his birthday just days ago, sent some love to the pop star on his Twitter. “Hey @ladygaga! Happy birthday, bitch!!!!” he wrote. “BornThisDay LOVE YOU!!!! xoxo”

When MTV News caught up with Hilton at his birthday bash, he had this wish for his birthday: tons more success for Gaga. “My birthday wish for this year is for Lady Gaga’s new album, Born This Way, to sell over 1.2 million copies the first week,” he said. “That would beat Taylor Swift’s 1.1-something!”

In addition to all the birthday love from her inner circle, it was announced on Monday that Lady Gaga would be receiving the “Always Next, Forever Now” Award at Logo’s NewNowNext Awards, which air on the network on April 11. She receives the prize three years after she performed for the first time on television during the 2008 show.
