MTV News takes a deeper look at the singer’s June 28 release.

Lady Gaga is political, Britney Spears loves to party, and Beyoncé — well, she knows all about matters of the heart. Her latest album, 4, which drops June 28, is a girl-power-filled ode to the power of love: its highs, lows and all the sublime moments in between.

If you didn’t listen to the full album when it leaked on Tuesday and have only heard singles “Run the World (Girls),” “1+1″ and “Best Thing I Never Had,” you’re only getting part of the picture. There are some really surprising moments on the album that her singles only touch on.

4 is all about throwback jams, in the vein of R&B power girls like Mary J. Blige and SWV, with a little Mariah Carey thrown in for good measure. With fewer dance-floor fillers and more swirling ballads, Beyoncé’s voice is the true star of the album, as evidenced on “I Care,” a power ballad that recalls slow jams like the ones Phil Collins used to spill his heart on. B’s voice is huge and owns the song as the instrumentals swirl and crescendo around her.

“Party,” which features Andre 3000, is a, well, party jam at its very core. For anyone who attended a house party in the mid-’90s, this would have been the song to get the bash started. As Beyoncé sings, “So in love/ I’ll give it all away/ Just don’t tell nobody tomorrow,” you’ll be transported to a time when pop princesses cared more about the heart than the synth.

She kicks it even more old-school on “Rather Die Young,” harking back to ’70s soul. The song is about how you can’t fight what the heart wants, even if it isn’t right. Likening her lover to James Dean, it’s all about the sexiness of bad boys and the good girls who love them, but instead of going hard, she keeps the music soft.

Perhaps the most surprising song on the album is “Countdown.” Full of video-game bleeps and B doing her best Sasha Fierce (we thought she retired her!), the singer gets sassy and futuristic on the track. While it’s not like the other songs on the album, it does have a “Check on It” vibe.

Beyoncé gives fans a musical kick to the head during “End of Time,” a bombastic track, complete with in-your-face bass line and a marching band. B keeps things melodic, sharing lines like, “Take you away from here/ There’s nothing between us but space and time.”

MANCHESTER, Tennessee — When Florence Welch began writing the songs that would become her breakout Lungs album, she was just 18 years old and had no idea of what lay ahead of her.

Now, as she begins putting the finishing touches on the follow up to that album — working in the iconic Abbey Road studios — she finds herself a few years older, but oddly enough, in much the same position.

“It’s nearly finished, but, of course, that’s the hardest part for me, because once it’s finished, you have to share it with others,” she told MTV News on Thursday before her sundown set at Bonnaroo. “So, I’ve found myself obsessing over the way I’ve sung one little word, and wanting to go back and do it over again. I’m going to try and hold onto it as long as possible.”

While Welch admits the album is in its final stages, she still has a difficult time describing exactly what it sounds like. But from what she does say, it seems like the still-untitled effort won’t sound like Lungs.

“I wrote so much of my first album at different times and places — some songs when I was 18, some when I was 21 — so there are so many pieces and styles on it,” she said. “And that’s one of the things I love about it, but for my new record, I wanted to do things differently. It’s why I worked with one producer in one studio. I want to tie all those things together … in one piece, if possible.”

The new album also reflects everything that’s happened to her on her rather rapid ascent to fame. But she’s also taking inspiration from far different, far more ethereal places, too.

“There’s a song on it that’s inspired by a visit [from] my dead grandmother — like, I had really, really vivid dream about her and, um, she was giving me advice in this dream,” she said. “And it was really emotional, and I woke up crying. And there’s one song that’s inspired by that experience.”

Drawing an end to the work week with another television appearance, Emma Roberts visited “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” in New York City on Friday evening (June 10).

The always-stylish niece of Julia Roberts took to the Rockefeller Center studios as she sat down to chat about her new movie “The Art of Getting By” – which hits theaters on June 17th.

Hoping to build up interest, Miss Roberts tweeted prior to the episode’s airing, “Everyone catch me on Jimmy Fallon tonight! Obsessed w that guy!”

As for her movie, “The Art of Getting By” is about “George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who’s made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, who is befriended by Sally, a popular but complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit.”

Up next for Roberts is a project titled “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” in which she plays a pop star with the film centering around a divorcing couple (played by Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg) who are in the midst of logistic woes while attempting to move forward while getting back in the dating pool.

Of her co-stars, Emma recently told MTV News, “Right now I’m doing a romantic comedy called ‘Celeste and Jesse Forever,’ and I’m obsessed with both of them (Jones and Samberg). And I’m playing a pop star? Everyone in the movie is hilarious; it?s a great group to get to work with.”

Interestingly enough, Mr Waley-Cohen is said to be responsible for bringing Kate and Prince William back together after the now-married royal couple split back in 2007.

Waley-Cohen happens to be the first amateur jockey to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 30 years – as he was first to cross the finish line during the 2011 running of the annual event.

For fans who’ve been following the buzz surrounding J.J. Abrams’ mystery-thriller “Super 8,” know that there is, in fact, a big mystery at the center of the film. What that is, the filmmakers will not say, of course. (And those of us who have seen the film cannot and should not say.) In talking to the cast and filmmakers at the L.A. premiere, we had some fun soliciting the best theories they’ve heard about the secret — without giving anything away.

All jokes aside, though, we wondered what exactly the scene-stealing youngsters could say about the plot of J.J. Abrams-directed film? Not too much, it turns out. MTV News asked the young stars to give us their best non-spoilery “Super 8″ summary of what the film is all about.

“I think that it’s so hard to tell, it’s hard to say,” Elle Fanning said. “J.J.’s had us [keeping] the secret. The train crash happens, everything starts going wrong in the town, basically,” she added. “People start going missing, dogs are running away.”

“We’re saying that whatever it is, it’s scary,” Ryan Lee said succinctly.

“A bunch of things disappear in the town,” Gabriel Basso added.

“House appliances go missing, dogs go missing,” Lee continued. “People go missing. Basically, throughout the whole thing, we’re just trying to find out what’s happening.”

“It’s a major event that changes this town’s life forever,” Riley Griffiths said.

‘Twilight’ experts point out inconsistencies and omissions in the MTV Movie Awards-debuted sneak peek.

On Sunday morning, a few hours before the 2011 MTV Movie Awards went live and while the red carpet at the Gibson Amphitheatre was still a hive of pre-show activity, we welcomed three “Twilight” experts into the fray with a simple assignment: Take an early look at the “Breaking Dawn” teaser trailer, which we would be debuting during the Movie Awards, and let us know what you think.

They more than came through. Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com, Laura Byrne-Cristiano of TwilightLexicon.com and Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com analyzed the trailer like only die-hard “Twilight” specialists can. But there was too much info to pack into one story. And now that a few days have passed since the trailer’s debut and the bloggers’ opinions are still fresh in our minds, we have a few lingering questions we want answered in the future.

Two Wedding Rings?
Early in the trailer, we see Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan wearing a large diamond-incrusted ring — a family heirloom, as explained in the book. But as Matthews pointed out, when Bella notices she is pregnant in the trailer, she is wearing a simple silver band. What gives? Will the two-ring situation be explained? Matthews thinks she knows the answer already. “I’m thinking it’s one of those things where the one ring really is an heirloom,” she told us. “You put it away and wear it on special occasions.”

Too Hot for PG-13?
Last summer, Summit Entertainment distribution chief Richie Fay assured us that, despite the book’s sex scenes and horror-like elements, the adaptation would not be rated R. That hasn’t stopped online talk, as Byrne-Cristiano put it, that “we’ve got to make this R.” Well, now that we’ve seen the first trailer, it seems regardless of the PG-13 rating, the flick is going to be pretty steamy. Just how hot? Though we’ve gotten a peek — Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen cracking a headboard mid-coitus and the duo taking a honeymoon skinny dip — the real question about the heat factor will have to wait until we glimpse a different scene: the famous one with the feathers. “There are no feathers on the bed,” she noted. “That’s a well-known point that everyone wants. So in that trailer, there are three moments, and there’s got to be another one.”

What Else Has Changed?
The eagle-eyed Hassell noted two small but significant changes from “New Moon” to “Breaking Dawn.” For one, Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the blond vampire Caius, seems to have a reworked ‘do. “His hair is A-plus!” she said. “A lot better than ‘New Moon.’ ” And Hassell also noted the Volturi’s thrones appear to have gotten a makeover. “It seems like the ones in ‘New Moon’ are more intricate,” she said. “The ones in ‘Breaking Dawn’ are very square and not as ornate.” It’s hard to say what accounts for such changes; the same production designer, for example, worked on both films. But it does raise the question: What else has changed in the world of “Twilight” for these final films?

Will We See The Wedding Dress Before Opening Night?
While the trailer showed us much more than many predicted — a shirtless Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, Bella quizzically examining her pregnant belly — there was one thing we didn’t catch a glimpse of: Bella’s wedding dress. Might we see the gown in a subsequent trailer? Or will Summit hold that back until the film itself? “I’m hoping beyond hope that we get the wedding dress in the next trailer. I’m not holding my breath. I think we’ll have to wait,” said Hassel, adding, “I hope it’s something classic that fits in with [author] Stephenie Meyer’s vision. But Kristen’s gorgeous. She’ll look great in anything.”

The Peas and Swift took to Twitter to apologize to fans after a star-studded NYC charity show was postponed due to bad weather on Thursday.

The weather just didn’t want to cooperate with the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift and the other artists slated to perform in New York’s Central Park on Thursday night at a concert to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation anti-poverty organization. After a number of delays, and before anyone could take the stage, the Concert 4 NYC had been canceled.

The show, which had been slated to take place on Central Park’s Great Lawn and was expected to draw an audience of approximately 60,000 fans, initially was just delayed but concert promoters eventually decided to pull the plug on the event as the weather worsened and thunder and rain rolled in, Billboard.com reports. Among the other acts that had been scheduled to perform were Debbie Harry, LL Cool J and Natasha Bedingfield.

A rep for the concert has confirmed to MTV News that no new date has been scheduled. In a statement, the Robin Hood Foundation said, “The heat wasn’t going to stop them, the rain wasn’t going to stop them, but the lightning — it stopped them. It came down to safety for everyone. Organizers are hoping to reschedule, so ticket buyers should hold onto their tickets. Robinhood.org will have information in the next week or so.”

The artists themselves also have apologized to fans for the cancelation. Swift tweeted, “I was like ‘I get to sing with Fergie in NYC?!’ and then there was rain and lightning and they’re like ‘it’s cancelled’ and I was like [sad emoticon].”

The Black Eyed Peas, who reportedly performed an intimate show backstage for fans, also took to Twitter to posted about the nixed concert. “I’m so sad the show got postponed,” will.i.am wrote.

“Fergie is really sorry it’s not happening we feel horrible,” Taboo added on his Twitter page. “We are devastated and Fergie told me to tweet this she loves u all … I hope that the concert will be rescheduled ASAP, our pea-ple deserve it, my pea-ple from chase and robinhood deserve this NYC we love u.”

‘But I’m not going to tell you who,’ Khloé teases us about new season of the reality series kicking off Sunday.

On Sunday, Kourtney, Kim and Khloé will kick off another season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” What should fans expect? Well, according to the sisters, more than one person will be tying the knot.

“We’re still a family, so you’re gonna see what normal families do, but it’s different this time around ’cause we all have our own families,” Khloé teased about the E! reality show. “So trying to combine families is hard and sometimes the men want to rip their hair out. It’s always going to be that family dynamic.”

Then she added, “There’s two weddings this season, but I’m not going to tell you who.”

Since Kim recently announced her engagement to NBA player Kris Humphries, we figured there’s a good chance her wedding might be one of the two featured this season. Then Khloé hinted, “But it’s not me and it’s not Kim, so you figure it out.”

If may seem as if the Kardashians are always on TV, what with “Khloé & Lamar” only recently wrapping up, but the girls are quick to point out there’s nothing like when the whole family gets together.

Kourtney said the season premiere will let fans in on what each of the Kardashians has been up to (as if we don’t already know). “I think, too, it’s just a lot of catching up,” she said. “We haven’t all been together so, you know, just seeing us all together and what we’ve been up to.”

“We haven’t been off TV long, but ‘Keeping Up,’ I feel has been off TV for a while, so we’re so excited,” Khloé said. “And doing a family show, we love to do it ’cause we’re all together all the time. So we feel like we’re back and in full effect.

“The first episode, I mean, you get to really see how Kim and Kris first started dating, and especially Kim and I have a lot of arguments about it because she comes to my house and I have a lot of old memorabilia from a lot of old exes and she doesn’t like that,” she continued. “But I don’t know who Kris is [in the beginning]. I feel like I didn’t get the memo to change the pictures; a lot of just feuding going on.”

The newly minted CMT Music Award winner says he shares his mother’s love of the country sound.

Before he took home the trophy for Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night, Justin Bieber professed his love for all things country on the red carpet.

“I’m really glad to be here,” he told CMT, with the guys of Rascal Flatts by his side. “It’s great.”

It wasn’t just an exciting night for him, but also for Mama Bieber, who happens to be a big country music aficionado. “It’s great; it’s so many people my mother admires, ’cause she loves country music, and I do too,” he continued. “So it’s really great to be here with Rascal Flatts.”

It was on the set for his winning video, “That Should Be Me,” that Bieber first cut his hair. In the end, the sacrifice of his trademark locks seemed worth it.

“Some of the fans liked it; some of the fans didn’t. They were just upset he cut it,” Bieber joked, nodding to Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox.

The video for “That Should Be Me,” a Never Say Never – The Remixes track (which was a reworked version of the song that first appeared on My World 2.0) is a lo-fi, behind-the-scenes, “making of the video” performance clip. But it was good enough to beat out the likes of country music superstars like Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson; Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow; Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow, as well as Aaron Lewis featuring George Jones and Charlie Daniels.

“First of all, I just want to say how honored I am to be here … with Rascal Flatts,” Bieber said while accepting his first country award. “How amazing are Rascal Flatts, everybody? I want to thank my mom. I want to thank my family. And I want to thank Rascal Flatts for even jumping on the song with me.”

Given that we are MTV News, and the Movie Awards is one of our biggest events of the year, our intrepid team of writers, reporters and producers enjoy what is, hands down, the best behind-the-scenes access to any and everything that happens before, after and during the live broadcast. With that, we narrowed down a pretty impressive list of can’t-believe-it-happened-off-camera moments for you.

(Not all moments happen off-camera, though. Be sure to get an eyeful of our backstage moments photo gallery.)

In no particular order, here are the top five “events” witnessed backstage at the 2011 Movie Awards:

Dave Grohl Hijacks Our Best Villain Interview
Minutes after accepting his second Movie Award for Best Villain, MTV News was chatting up “Harry Potter” star Tom Felton about the win, where he’ll keep his award, and so forth. Foo Fighters frontman Grohl suddenly jumped into the frame and asked what we were talking about. He went on to congratulate Felton on his win with a friendly hug. Grohl ended the brief encounter by extending an invite to a visibly star-struck Felton to join him for some post-show Absinthe.

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart Chest-Bump
We love it when the stars of our favorite films seem to be genuinely good friends both on and offscreen — especially when those real-life pals are two of our favorite “Twilight” actors, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. In between accepting and presenting awards, we watched Stewart and Lautner greet each other backstage with an actual chest bump, which they followed up with a friendly hug.

Emma Watson Gets McDreamy’d
In spite of the fact that stylish Emma Watson always looks so composed, not even the “Harry Potter” star could resist the dashing good looks of “Grey’s Anatomy” hottie Patrick Dempsey, a.k.a. McDreamy. We witnessed Watson and the “Transformers: Rise of the Fallen” actor passing each other with a smile and a nod. But once Dempsey was out of earshot, Watson turned to her rep, put her hand over her heart and sighed at his dreaminess.

“Chocolate Wasted” With Alexys Nycole Sanchez
For its sheer adorableness, this moment might be the lead contender for the best thing we witnessed backstage. Moments after “Grown Ups” starlet Alexys Nycole Sanchez nabbed her first Golden Popcorn trophy for her “I want to get chocolate wasted!” line, our MTV News team caught up with the pre-tween to get her reaction. Really, she was too cute for words. And You can see the delight in our faces in the photo posted on our Movies Blog as we had to kneel to speak with Sanchez.

OMG, Celebs Are Totally BFF
Not all of the celebs in Hollywood are BFF à la Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, but because the rich and famous run in similar social circles, many are quite friendly with other. Often these celebrity friendships have sprung up unexpectedly. Case in point, all the palling around we saw backstage. First, Ryan Gosling and Tyrese hugging hello; Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins chatting about KStew’s dog; and pretty, leggy blondes Blake Lively and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley giggling like schoolgirls during a marathon catch-up session.

“American Idol” champ Scotty McCreery is wasting no time getting his career off the ground. A little more than a week after being crowned season 10 champ, McCreery has signed a major-label deal with Mercury Nashville/ 19 Recordings/ Interscope. He’s also made a bit of history with his debut single, “I Love You This Big.”

According to his new bosses, the embracing country ballad is the highest-charting debut for a new artist in more than two decades. “This Big” hit Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart at #32 last week, the best first-week showing since the magazine started using Nielsen’s BDS-based data in January 1990. The song also hit #1 on iTunes and #3 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart.

“I am humbled and shocked by this news,” McCreery said in a statement. “I can’t tell you what it means to me to be on the same charts as my musical heroes. I want to thank my fans and especially country radio for their support. I continue to be amazed by everything that has happened to me in such a short time.”

While a spokesperson confirmed 17-year-old McCreery is slated to hit Nashville this week to start work on his still-untitled debut, his pal and runner-up, Lauren Alaina, was not left out in the cold. The 16-year-old country/pop singer also scored a major-label deal with Mercury Nashville, and after hitting the CMA Music Fest in Nashville this week, she, too, will begin work on her major-label debut.

Before diving into recording and prepping for the “Idols Live!” summer tour, which kicks off on July 6, McCreery will get some big-deal screen time when he presents at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday. In addition, he’ll make appearances at a number of CMA Music Festival activities this week, and on Friday, he’ll have his Grand Ole Opry debut with a performance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to follow on June 15.

Both singers recently told MTV News that they have no plans to stray from their country roots once they get behind the microphone, with Scotty promising he wouldn’t turn into “Country Bieber.”

“It’s gonna be a good ol’ country album,” McCreery said. “I like to have that old flavor in my music, but with a contemporary feel, so we’ll see where that leads me. I think it’ll be a good little mix.”

Mobb Deep’s Prodigy may only be three months out of jail, but the Queens MC is wasting no time in the studio. After already releasing a free online mixtape (The Bump Elsworth EP), P and his partner Havoc are hard at work on Mobb Deep’s eighth studio album. While few details about the LP are confirmed, the H.N.I.C. tells MTV News that they can most likely expect a Rick Ross collaboration, which is already recorded.

“We did a joint with Ross. It’s in the stash right now. It’ll probably be for the Mobb album. It’s kinda crazy too,” Prodigy said backstage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam concert on Sunday. Ross talked about the collaboration and how it came about during his “RapFix Live” visit May 25. Despite Prodigy’s affiliation to Ross’ nemesis 50 Cent, who previously signed Mobb Deep to a G-Unit deal, the two artists were able to work out any perceived differences.

“I respect him, most definitely, as being a boss, making your own decisions,” Ross told Sway. “When he was released, he gave me a call a few days after that. We spoke on the phone maybe once or twice. It was a genuine conversation, us touching base, making sure it is what it is. We most definitely put a record or two on the table. Just to be frank, I was always a fan of the homey, H.N.I.C. I always respected when I saw that. The B.G. collaboration he did with the South, that was big for me. So I was always a fan of the homey and when he made this move in a way, so you had to respect it. So look for a Rozay and Prodigy record in the future.”

It still may be awhile before fans hear the record, however. “We’re looking forward to maybe, like, September. End of August, September — we’re shooting for around that time,” Prodigy said of Mobb Deep’s upcoming release date. “We know they need that new music out there, something for the streets. We gotta feed the streets. It’s a lot of different things happening in hip-hop. That’s a good thing. You got different types of sounds, but you know we gotta keep what makes us going. We gotta keep our sound alive, that dark hip-hop. We’re gonna keep that alive.”

Tom Felton might not have been interrupted by Mark Wahlberg during his MTV Movie Awards acceptance speech for Best Villain this year, but that doesn’t make receiving the award any less special for him.

“Thank you very much, it’s always exciting to be here,” he said in his acceptance speech. “This is very cool. This will look very nice in my downstairs toilet.”

When MTV News caught up with Felton backstage after his second straight win, he clarified that his downstairs toilet actually is a pretty important location in his home.

“It’s kind of a prized place in my house, the downstairs toilet,” Felton deadpanned. “Consider it an honor.”

Though he technically came back to defend the Best Villain title for “Harry Potter,” he said the real reason is because he hadn’t yet seen any of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ yet and wanted to catch the sneak peek at the MTV Movie Awards.

“That’s half the reason I’m here,” he said with a laugh.

Since Felton hasn’t seen any of the footage yet, he couldn’t tease how “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ would look in 3-D, but he did say it’s something he’s anticipating.

“I’m very excited,” he said. “I’m not sure if that’s going to add or subtract to my screen presence.”

The singer scraps the remaining nine dates on her sold-out tour under doctor’s advice.

Adele has canceled the remainder of her sold-out North American tour due to “ongoing illness,” a spokesperson for her label, Columbia Records, announced Friday.

Last week, the British belter was forced to cancel a show in Minneapolis due to a case of laryngitis, but came back to perform a concert in Denver. Then, earlier this week, under doctor’s orders, she canceled five West Coast gigs and hoped that her voice would improve with rest. Adele had originally planned to return to the stage on Saturday at San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre, but those plans went awry when her vocal condition didn’t improve.

“Adele recently postponed five shows under doctor’s orders when she was diagnosed with laryngitis,” a statement from Columbia read. “While resting in Los Angeles, Adele met with an otolaryngology specialist who determined it was imperative that she take the next few weeks to recover with absolute voice rest.”

All told, the final nine dates of her tour will be scrapped.

“I’m really frustrated,” Adele said in a statement. “I was hoping with a week’s rest, I’d be better to sing again straight away. However, there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry.”

Columbia said that plans to reschedule the cancelled tour dates “are being investigated,” and that more information would be provided.

Since launching in North America in early May, Adele’s tour has been a sold-out smash, thanks in no small part to the continued success of her 21 album, which has sold nearly 2 million copies since being released in February and has topped the Billboard albums chart on nine different occasions.

Or does “you” even have to be a person? Couldn’t someone “want” or “love” a refreshing beverage or an old car or, you know, drugs?

Shoot, now that we’re on the subject, maybe we’re never supposed to figure out who or what “you” is referring to (the classic example, of course, being Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” which is apparently about Warren Beatty … or David Geffen … or David Bowie, depending on whom you ask).

I only bring this up because in Paramore’s brand-new song “Monster,” which premiered Friday on the band’s official site, Hayley Williams uses the Y-word a lot. And given everything that has lead up to the song’s debut — a string of drama that included the departure of founding member (and Williams’ old flame) Josh Farro, a rather nasty “exit statement,” a tell-all interview with MTV News and the band’s steadfast determination to continue onward — it’s rather impossible not to wonder who she’s referring to … especially given the existence of kiss-offs like “You were my conscience, so solid/ Now you’re like water, and we started drowning/ Not like we’d sink any further” and “Now that you’re gone/ The world is ours.”

So, is Williams singing about Josh Farro? It’s difficult to think otherwise … then again, perhaps, like Simon, she’ll never let us know. Because, really, the subject of the song isn’t as important as its very existence, a statement any Paramore fan will certainly agree with. “Monster” officially kicks off the next chapter in the band’s story and does so roaringly, with spindly, chiming guitars (which recall one of Williams’ favorite bands, mewithoutYou), crushing chords, a massive chorus and a stalking backbeat. Based on the song, it seems like new Paramore will be very much like old Paramore, seemingly minus the drama that drained them for years. Even if we don’t know who Williams’ “you” is, it’s good to have her — and the band — back.
