Coldplay Fans Find ‘Paradise’ During ‘Today’ Set
Band can’t make up its mind on the meaning of new album title Mylo Xyloto, and fans struggle to pronounce it for MTV News.

NEW YORK — Thousands of Coldplay fans wrapped around a dark Rockefeller Plaza on Friday morning (October 21) waiting to get into the group’s “Today” show performance.
While most woke up before sunrise, some even camped out overnight to catch the seven-time Grammy-winning band perform. Coldplay satisfied their fans’ hunger, performing past hits like “Fix You” and “Viva la Vida” along with new singles “Paradise” and “Every Tear Drop Is a Waterfall.”
Two early birds from Long Island missed part of their school day to catch the free show. “We woke up at 4 a.m., missed the train, took another train,” Rebecca Monachelli, 17, said. When asked if her parents were aware, the teen laughed, “My mom was the one who suggested to come here today!”
A spray-painted set, in the identical colors of Coldplay’s new album cover, lit up the plaza as dawn approached. When “Today” co-anchor Matt Lauer asked about the set, frontman Chris Martin admitted, “It’s just random and fun. It’s just us throwing caution to the wind, we know it looks kind of amateur, but it comes from the heart.”
The band’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, due Tuesday, is said to be the band’s most electronic album yet.
MTV News took to the plaza to talk with fans and test their ability to pronounce the album title. Most fans laughed as they stumbled over the words Mylo Xyloto, while others confidently let it out.
When the band was asked about the meaning behind the title, Martin said, “It doesn’t really mean anything. It just means a group of four English people who are trying to come up with something that had no other association … one day hopefully it’ll mean something.”
Lauer quoted the band from a New York Times article, in which Martin had been quoted, “We came up with the idea of, what if you had musical digits, like xylo toes?”
Martin smiled before responding, “I said that, but now I don’t mean that anymore. We’re still trying to figure out what to say. We should have figured it out before we came on national TV.”

Britney Spears Director Leads Us Through ‘Criminal’ Video
Chris Marrs Piliero takes us behind the crime sprees and ‘sexy time.’

Britney Spears and real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick go on a sexy crime spree in her new “Criminal” video, which follows the pair around London as they hold up banks and convenience stores in between NSFW scenes of the duo getting physical in their hideout.
MTV News caught up with the director, Chris Marrs Piliero, who opened up about casting Trawick and the video’s use of guns, leading us through the clip frame by frame.
The video opens with Spears and her rich boyfriend at a glamorous get-together. But things are not as pretty as the party itself. “So here we are at the fancy-schmancy par-tay, [and] one of my directions for her little turnaround reveal was in ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’ when Jennifer Love Hewitt … walks into the party. … The actor who plays her d—–bag boyfriend, his name is Freddie, and actually it’s his first acting role.”
Britney then goes into the lady’s room to cry about Freddie’s jabs at her, and when she comes out, she sees him flirting with another woman. “For this, I wanted to come up with a really cool line,” he said. “I was trying to come up with something that had attitude but was TV-safe, so we went with that,” he explained about Britney’s crack “So, you’re not working the street corner tonight, I see.”

When Britney does leave the party, dragged out by her boyfriend, Trawick’s bad-boy character comes to the rescue. “The punching was just awesome,” Piliero said. “We were watching that, and we were all looking at each other like, ‘Is he really hitting him?’ ”
Of course, Spears gets in her kick to his groin too. “I love her face when she goes for the kick,” he added. “She’s so good at delivering those fun lines.”
Eventually, Brit and Jason’s attraction takes over, as they share a kiss and then a whole lot more. “It’s time for sexy time,” Piliero joked of their naked romp. “So during the bed sex scene, the first take that we did of it, I let the camera roll. … From that point on, I was just calling out stuff, just directing them … and it was a really smooth, comfortable experience, actually. And Jason is ripped beyond belief. It’s kind of ridiculous.”
Britney soon gets caught up in Jason’s world of crime. Her first offense? Holding up a convenience store, where she also grabbed some vanilla candles, a nod to her real-life love of them. “There she is yelling at the guy,” he said. “That was fun. She really got into it.

“[The] slo-mo shot of them running out [was] very, very cool,” he continued. “I love when Jason just kind of throws the woman to the side.”
Between crime sprees, the two make time for a very revealing shower scene. “Sexy time in the shower, which is just super hot,” he said. “We did the shower scene after the bed scene.. so it was pretty painless and smooth.”
The video ends up with the cops closing in on the pair with a parade of bullets being shot into their flat before they make their getaway, driving off into the sunset together.
“We got a bunch of cops here ready to shoot,” he said. “Obviously, there’s a lot of crime history here. That’s why they’re ready to go crazy and fire on them. To me, it’s awesome to see this shot [because] this is exactly how I pictured it. Their kiss is magical and badass. It’s a really epic, cool-looking scene.”

Drake And Lil Wayne’s ‘The Real Her’ Leaks Online
It is unclear if the track will appear on Drizzy’s upcoming Take Care.

Drake‘s Take Care is finally complete. After a short delay that moved his original release date from October 24 to November 15, Drizzy handed the final cut into the label Wednesday and is now gearing up to promote his sophomore album.
Last week, Drake dropped “Make Me Proud,” his new single featuring Nicki Minaj, and on Thursday night, another possible Take Care track hit the Internet. Though it wasn’t posted on his October’s Very Own blog like previous album singles “Headlines” and “Marvins Room,” the brand-new “The Real Her,” featuring Lil Wayne, made waves online.
As of now, it is unclear whether the slow and sultry track, on which Drake sings throughout, will appear on Take Care. It begins with a start-and-stop piano intro, then about eight bars in, Drizzy starts to sing, “People around you should really have nothing to say/ Me I’m just proud of the fact that you’ve done it your way.”
The song’s bridge connects “The Real Her” to Drake’s classic “Houstatlantavegas” from his 2009 So Far Gone mixtape. He softly croons, “Houston girls love the way it goes down, Atlanta girls love the way it goes down, Vegas girls love the way it goes down,” drawing a distinct parallel to the song that Drake said inspired the story line on Take Care.
“It was a world that was very much real to me, but I created it in my mind. It was a world that, being a kid from Toronto, I used to look at from the outside and I used to be like, ‘Man that looks crazy,’ ” he told MTV News of the fictional city Houstatlantavegas. “All those strip clubs and all those nightclubs and the drinks and the girls and the fame.”
In his quest to find something real in a superficial world of fast love and even faster heartbreak, Drake invites Lil Wayne to rap about his experiences with the fairer sex. ” ‘Cause to her I’m just a rapper and soon she’ll have met another/ And if tonight was just an accident, tomorrow we’ll recover,” Weezy spits in almost a spoken-word flow.
The five-minute-plus song ends with no resolve, instead closing out with the hook, on which Drake charges, “You must’ve done this before, this can’t be your first time.” And the hunt for Ms. Right goes on.

Daniel Craig Premieres “The Adventures of Tintin” in London
Joining in on the BFI London Film Festival happenings, Daniel Craig took to the blue carpet to premiere his new movie “The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn” on Sunday (October 23).
The “007″ stud looked dapper in a grey v-neck sweater overtop a white collared shirt and tie with jeans as he mingled with the audience lining the Odeon West End entrance while working his way inside the theater.
As for his new movie, “The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn” is directed by Steven Spielberg while also featuring the voices of Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.
The film – which is set to his cinemas on December 21st – revolves around the character of Tintin, an intrepid young reporter whose pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure.

Robert Pattinson & Ashley Greene’s French Fan Greeting!
To the delight of their legions of fans, “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene got their month-long “Breaking Dawn: Part 1″ promotions underway in Paris on Sunday (October 23).
The bearded Edward Cullen hunk and his Alice Cullen co-star made their way to UGC Capucines as they took center stage at a special fan event in the French capital city.
The press stop comes shortly after Miss Greene’s November cover issue interview with Allure magazine was released, in which she jokes about Pattinson by saying, “Rob. Oh, Rob. He’s very endearing, but you’ve seen his interviews. He’s like, ‘Ah, I don’t know…. Oh, God.’”
Making sure to offer up praise after the teasing line, Ashley went on to call Robert a “phenomenal actor,” adding, “All of us essentially were unknown. So everyone kind of went through this crazy whirlwind [together]. It was really nice to be able to confide in people who were going through the exact same thing.”
Meanwhile, it has also been announced by TV Guide that MTV will be unveiling their first “Breaking Dawn” special on November 3rd.
As for their vampire saga’s latest installment, the film is set to take over theaters worldwide on November 18th.

Ashley Tisdale: Sunshine State Bikini Babe
Not shy when it comes to showing off her fine figure, Ashley Tisdale stripped down while poolside in Miami, FL on Friday (October 21).
The “Phineas & Ferb” star is in town to visit her boyfriend, Scott Speer, who is directing a music video in the Sunshine State locale.
Meanwhile, as previously reported by GossipCenter, it was announced that Miss Tisdale has sold a semi-autobiographical comedy project to ABC that she’s to star in and co-produce.
Titled “Under Construction,” the hopeful series will follow “a young woman who must sacrifice her independence and must move back in with her family while her father helps to renovate her ?money pit? home among another things,” according to Deadline.

Selena Gomez Goes Gangster In MTV EMA Promo
‘People know who the eff I is,’ the show’s host raps in a video for next month’s MTV Europe Music Awards.

When Selena Gomez served as MTV News’ special correspondent at the Video Music Awards Pre-Show in August, she was polite, professional and, as far as we can tell, did not utter a single profanity (she did get kissed by her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, though).
But in preparation for her hosting duties at next month’s MTV EMA, she’s decided to change things up a bit, ditching that good-girl image and going hard. At least judging by a brand-new promo for the show, that is.
Gomez ties on a bandana and throws on a flannel (only top button buttoned, of course) in the new spot, which spoofs her squeaky-clean image and features the demure actress/singer spitting some (sorta-profane) rhymes. It opens with her in full-blown princess regalia, sitting before a vanity and proclaiming to her reflection “Finally, I get to host the EMAs … wow!”
All of sudden, her thugged-out alter ego appears on the other side of the mirror, tells Selena to “shut her face,” and then launches into a few bars, rapping, “Who else better than me to be hosting the show/ People know who the eff I is/ I’m a pro/ The right time and place for me to be/ Yeah, I’ll say it/ Congratulations to me!”
Gangster Gomez (or, as she puts it, “The S-E-L-E-N-A to the Gomez”), then gets all Kanye confessional on the mic, rapping that “Sh–’s crazy growing up in this industry/ I was still a baby when I hustled up into the scene” and then drops what sounds very much like a solid F-bomb too. Like we said, she goes hard.
Of course, the whole thing is a joke — according to a message at the beginning of the spot, “Some of the Selenas in this video are fictional. Any similarities to the actual Selena are purely coincidental” — but, as MTV’s Buzzworthy blog points out, her hip-hop makeover does present a rather unique opportunity for Gomez: Now, perhaps she can drop a mixtape with Shawty Mane, a.k.a. Bieber’s rapping alter ego. We’d totally cop that.
The MTV EMA will premiere on Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más at 6 p.m. ET on November 6 and noon on mtvU on November 7. American and Canadian audiences can vote for the North American nominee for the Worldwide Act award, who will represent the continent at the EMA against contenders from across the globe.

Lindsay Lohan: Cupcake Denial
No matter how much mischief she finds herself in, Lindsay Lohan sure has some loyal fans.
While the ?Mean Girls? actress was fulfilling her duty at the L.A. County Morgue on Friday (October 21), a super fan attempted to deliver LiLo some cupcakes.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter refused the cupcakes, turned the man away and when asked about it, told TMZ, “It’s unacceptable. We’re not here to accept food.”
As previously reported, Lohan was unable to complete her community service at the Morgue on Thursday after arriving 40 minutes late, but made up for it today by arriving a little bit early for a shift.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Stars, Musicians Hit The Road
Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz and others will tour with acts from the latest ‘Twilight’ soundtrack.

Some of the stars of the upcoming “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ will be hitting the road next month for a barnstorming tour to jack Twilighters up even more about the penultimate film in the vamps-and-werewolves saga.
Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Elizabeth Reaser will pile into the van (OK, probably a plane) for a five-city tour from November 7 to 11 that will hit Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Salt Lake City, just one week before the movie hits screens (November 18). They will be joined by singer and “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack contributor Christina Perri on the first three dates. Three other soundtrack contributors — Aqualung, Lucy Schwartz and Sleeping at Last — will be on hand for the final two shows.
Tickets for the appearances are free and will be available beginning at 10 a.m. local time Saturday, November 5, at each location, with a two-ticket-per-person limit. Each event will feature a red-carpet arrival followed by the mini-concert.
If you just can’t wait that long, tune in to MTV at 7:54 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 26, to see the debut of the video for the first single from the “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ soundtrack, “It Will Rain,” from Bruno Mars.
The “Rain” video will feature a never-before-seen clip from the film. Immediately following the video’s premiere, the action switches over to MTV.com for a live stream featuring MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway’s exclusive interview with Mars, plus “Twilight” music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, who will discuss everything about the “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack.
“After seeing the movie, I thought that it would be a perfect fit,” Mars told Billboard last month about the lead single from the soundtrack. “The ‘Twilight’ movies for me [are] a love story. But it’s a dark love story,” he added. “And I think the best way to describe the song is: It’s the darker side of love. I think that pretty much sums it up.”
Mars will also be answering your video and text questions, which you can submit starting today at MTV.com or via Twitter using the hashtag #AskBruno.
