‘Woman in Black’ star opens up to MTV News about his ‘really weird’ dreams — and his constant anxiety too.

After finally facing off against Voldemort and then going head to head with the Woman in Black, Daniel Radcliffe shouldn’t have much to worry about. But at the age of 22, he has already become one of the most recognizable faces on the planet, and with that amount of recognition comes some worries.

When the actor spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, he opened up about his anxiety. Radcliffe’s energy comes across clearly during interviews, speaking quickly throughout and touching on many topics in a short amount of time, something the actor’s aware of. “Anxiety, yeah, a lot just because you’ve met me and you know what I’m like,” Radcliffe told Horowitz. “I’m a pretty anxious, high-energy person. I think that goes along with it.”

It should come as no surprise that Radcliffe has more than a busy schedule, which factors into his anxiety. “I’ll always worry about something, and if I don’t have something to worry about, I’ll worry about that,” he said.

Radcliffe also talked for a while about this dreams. He said he doesn’t dream often, but that when he does, they’re often pretty strange. “I very rarely remember dreams anymore. Over the last year, I haven’t had one that I remembered,” Radcliffe said. “My dreams are always really weird. I remember I was talking to someone a while ago who was telling me about their dream. They said it was mental. ‘I was at work. All this stuff needed getting done. I couldn’t do it all in time.’ I was like, ‘That is the most mundane dream in the whole world.’ ”

When he does dream, however, his subconscious takes on appropriately epic proportions. “My dreams are always, like, I have to save something or save the world or something,” Radcliffe said. “It’s pretty exciting, but it only happens about once a year.”

Even if he is dreaming about saving the world, it’s not as his most famous character, a fact he’s grateful for.

“Before I did the run of ['How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,'] I was dreaming about being Finch and what it would be on stage and those kind of anxiety things,” he said. “No, I’ve never dreamed as Harry, thank God. If I had said ‘yes’ to that question, there would be a lot of people all over the Internet going, ‘Oh, my God, he needs therapy.’ ”

Real Spit: Emilio Rojas has reached his breaking point, and on his mixtape of the same name, the Rochester, New York, MC proves he’s ready to break through — whether the rap world is ready or not.

“I named the tape Breaking Point after the record ‘Breaking Point’ that we dropped in April [2011],” Emilio told Mixtape Daily. “The record just had a really good response, so it just made sense.”

The title track details all of the problems the MC has endured in the rap game and beyond. For Rojas, the drama started at home — or so he says on the song, because when he’s talking about his childhood, Emilio spills his guts in a dramatic manner reminiscent of Eminem. First, he reveals that his birth was unplanned by his parents, and then he really goes in.

“My daddy learned she was pregnant and he was so angered/ He tried to end it, I’m no stranger to coat hangers/ He getting livid, sittin’ in on the clinic visits/ And now he waitin’ on drama like it’s an intermission/ He takes it out on my mama ’cause he was into hittin’/ And yeah, that’s probably the reason my sister is into women,” Emilio rhymes.

“When we wrote the record, there was a lot of stuff that was goin’ on. Everybody who’s in the industry knows how frustrating the industry can be,” he explained. “So I was kinda venting on the record.”

On “SPIC,” Rojas switches gears, showing more pride in his upbringing. Despite being raised by immigrant parents and facing racism, Emilio beats his chest with pride over the stereotypes, eventually flipping them by drawing power from his family’s struggle. On “Middle Finger,” he shows yet another side by getting political about corrupt cops.

The relative rap newcomer gets a hand from the Grammy Award-winning production trio J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League on “Pimpin.” While big-name producers and R&B singers help out on Breaking Point, there are no rap features. Instead, Emilio proves his rap worth with potent bars on tracks like “Classic.” With “Blame Me,” he slows things down and shows off his singing voice. And the midtempo R&B-laced love song makes it clear that ER is more than just a rapper’s rapper; there’s definite hit-making potential there.

By the end of the 12-song ride, ER proves that he belongs. Already, there are rumors of a hook-up with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, but who knows if that will ever pan out? Granted, this is Rojas’ fourth mixtape, but when it’s all said and done, Breaking Point will probably mark Emilio Rojas’ official arrival. Welcome!

Joints to Check For “Pu— & Cologne”: “It’s pretty obvious what the record’s about. The record is hard, it’s street and we go in. It’s ignorant enough for people to have fun singing it because they feel like they shouldn’t be singing it.”

“One Last Time”: “It’s produced by the homey V12 the Hitman; it features Emanny, he does a lot of work with Joe Budden. It’s a breakup song, I’m good at those. It’s basically just telling a girl like, ‘Look, this isn’t working but we’re sticking with it just for the sex. So let’s just get it in one last time and go our separate ways.”

“Breaking Point”: “It’s just about being at that point where your back’s against the wall, you’re sick of all the bull. That’s the point where you decide, ‘All right, this is either gonna break you or you gonna break.”

“The X Factor” has said goodbye to two of its familiar faces: mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones.

E! News reported that the former Pussycat Doll and “Dancing With the Stars” champ has decided not to return to the show in order to focus on her music career. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell], and he’s given her his blessing,” a source told E! Scherzinger often became emotional during elimination episodes, shedding tears and expressing sympathy for ousted contestants.

As for inaugural “X Factor” host Jones, the cheeky Welshman broke the news himself via Twitter on Monday. “I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones tweeted to his more than 94,000 followers. “Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Jones had decidedly big shoes to fill stepping into the gig, with comparisons instantly made to “American Idol” host/ media mogul Ryan Seacrest. Throughout the season, the reviews of Jones’ hosting skills were decidedly mixed.

Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly’s comments during the TCA panels earlier this month now seem as though a decision was made awhile ago. “I think everyone has come to realize the value of a Ryan Seacrest,” he told reporters during the network’s press tour panel. “If you dialed the clock back 11 years, I’m not sure everybody in this room would have given him all the credit at that time. Those are very hard jobs to do. So whether Steve’s the guy or not, it comes under the heading of ‘growth’ in general. There will be some tweaks to the show, but I’ll tell you, I’m very happy to have it, and it’s gonna be part of us for a long time.”

The 34-year-old Jones seemed to take the criticism in stride and didn’t appear to have high hopes for a return for the second season. “There’s been no contract conversations and there won’t be until the New Year,” Jones told Metro UK in December. “If I’m back, great. If not, I’ll do something else. Simple as that.”

One thing Jones does have hope for is a possible romantic connection with Scherzinger, who was originally supposed to be his co-host before she replaced Cheryl Cole on the judging panel.

“If I ever leave ‘X Factor,’ Scherzinger’s phone will be smoking hot from me ringing it constantly,” Jones joked to Metro. “If we are not colleagues, then she’s fair game.”

Reese Witherspoon is slated to sit down with MTV News on Tuesday for an exclusive interview and premiere of a previously unseen clip from her upcoming film “This Means War.” The special, “MTV First: This Means War,” will air on Tuesday at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

But before we look to the future, we are going to take a peep at her past. MTV News has uncovered a precious vintage gem, a 1991 interview with the then up-and-comer. “Ever since I was 7,” the already precocious and sassy rookie told MTV News when asked whether she had always had her sights set on a career in Hollywood. “I just thought, I always wanted to do something really outgoing ’cause when I was little I was really kind of quiet, but you know, I’d always be really creative at home and stuff, and finally I started, you know, speaking out and doing little things to impress everybody.”

She further explained that once she had decided that acting was something she wanted to do, she took the necessary steps to make sure she’d be ready for fame and stardom. “I started taking little acting classes and improv classes and, you know, [that] turned out to be what I was going to do,” she said. “I was always going to do something really out there, really far away. Does that make any sense? No, not really.”

Later mocking herself and her answer, she teased, “That’s nice, Reese. That’s real nice.”

Following the on-air “First” segment, Academy Award winner Witherspoon will stay for an additional 30-minute interview on MTV.com with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. Fans can be part of the action right away by submitting video or text questions on MTV.com or via Twitter by using hashtag #MTVFirst.

“This Means War,” the McG-directed comedy-action film, stars Witherspoon as a seductive female dating two of the world’s deadliest CIA operatives (played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy), whose partnership and friendship are put in jeopardy when they begin to battle for her affections. Instead of talking to her about the love triangle, they try to settle the matter using all of the weapons at their disposal.

The film also stars one of Witherspoon’s real-life pals, comedian and “Chelsea Lately” host Chelsea Handler, who gives Reese’s character the terrible advice that she should continue dating both men.

MTV News exclusive: The British boy band will play themselves on an episode of Miranda Cosgrove’s hit Nick show.

“iCarly” is about to feel the effects of a British Invasion. The show has just booked British boy band One Direction to appear on the fifth season of the Miranda Cosgrove-starring show.

The guys will be on set Monday to tape their appearance on the episode, during which they will play themselves and perform “What Makes You Beautiful.”

According to a synopsis of the episode, “Carly returns home sick after a trip and discovers that One Direction has accepted an invitation to perform on their web show. Not long after arriving, bandmate Harry becomes sick and we see Carly doting over him. Realizing Harry is playing sick for the attention, they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by telling him Gibby has become their newest bandmember. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal trainer and gives a bratty girl a makeover.”

The guys of One Direction, who got their start after appearing on “The X Factor” in 2010, are already superstars in their native U.K., and now it seems they are poised to break Stateside. Their debut album, Up All Night, is set for U.S. release on March 20, and they will be touring with Big Time Rush starting next month.

Cosgrove stopped by the MTV News offices recently and teased that there were some big plans in store for season five. “We’re just getting started to start the next season, so I’m not really sure what’s going to come, because it’s sort of a surprise for all of us even,” she said. “But I’ve heard Carly’s getting a boyfriend, so that’s exciting, and we’re gonna have some more musical guests, some big, different musical artists,” she said, noting that she’d love to get Katy Perry on the show. “There are a lot of different musical acts that I love, so it’s fun whenever we get to have music in an episode.”

Michelle Obama made an “iCarly” appearance earlier this month on a special episode that honored military families.

Swinging through the south of the border locale to do a little promotional work, Vanessa Hudgens joined Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne Johnson in Mexico City, Mexico on Friday (january 27).

The good looking trio posed for pictures, offering solo takes and group ops during the session which preceded a scheduled press conference so that Vanessa, Josh and Dwayne could present their upcoming motion picture “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”.

Hitting theaters on February 10th, the action/adventure flick was directed by Brad Peyton while also starring Luis Guzman, Michael Caine and Kristin Davis.

With a brand new trailer having just been released (watch below!), the film sees “Sean Anderson partner with his mom’s boyfriend on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.”

Stars of the film talk to MTV News about the thriller surrounding ‘a desperate man in a desperate situation.’

While some filmmakers go the mysterious or fanciful route with their titles, there are just as many who tell their prospective audiences exactly what they’re going to see. “Man on a Ledge,” which opened Friday (January 27), is about as literal a film title as you can get.

When MTV News caught up with the cast recently, we asked them to explain the inherent intrigue in the title, as well as why the film has so much more going for it than just a man and a ledge.

“[The film is about] a desperate man in a desperate situation,” star Sam Worthington said of his character and the man on a ledge himself, Nick Cassidy. “As the movie goes on, we get to see why he’s there and how’s he’s going to get out of it.”

Worthington went on to say that “Man on a Ledge” takes a few cues from action films like “The Negotiator” and “Phone Booth.”

“I like those movies. I’ve always said I like doing movies that I would go and see and this is in the same vein as those movies,” Worthington said. “It’s exciting, thrilling and interesting for the audience because they’ve got a lead character who they’re wondering, ‘What’s going to happen next?’ ”

“The basic premise of the movie is that there is a man on a ledge, and the great thing is that there is so much more behind that basic premise,” added co-star Elizabeth Banks, who plays determined hostage negotiator Lydia Mercer. “Why is he there? What is he there for? What’s really happening? Those are all the questions that my character has and I get to sort of be the surrogate for the audience.

“The whole time we’re watching the movie we’re learning more about what’s going on. I’m the truth-seeker of the movie, I’m really interested in understanding why he’s there in the first place,” she explained. “Sam’s character says to me at one point, ‘You need to listen, I’m prepared to die’ and what he’s really saying is ‘Even if I die, I need you to carry on and tell everyone what happened,’ and that’s the great mystery of the movie. The action that drives the movie is, ‘What the heck is going on here?’ ”

Jamie Bell, who plays the man on the ledge’s younger brother, conceded that the title basically sells the film. “It’s quite literal,” he said.

“I think that’s what throws people off,” offered Genesis Rodriguez, who plays the girlfriend of Bell’s character. “They’re like, ‘Oh, it’s a movie about a man on a ledge.’ It really isn’t. There’s more to it.’ You should check it out because you don’t know it all.”

Despite all the hype and controversy, critics are pretty impressed by Del Rey’s atmospheric music.

The now-infamous “Saturday Night Live” performance fail. All the hype about her looks, her path to the spotlight and the obligatory album leak a week before her debut dropped.

Lana Del Rey survived a lifetime’s worth of slings and arrows before her major-label debut, Born to Die, was even released. But now that it’s officially out, critics have had a chance to listen to the atmospheric tracks she’s put together, and for the most part, they’re pretty impressed.

The Chicago Tribune gave it two out of four stars and said the finished product is not always as interesting as the run-up to its release. “[The album] positions itself as a knowing retro commentary. It borrows heavily from B movies starring various second- and third-level ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ bad boys on motorcycles, string-drenched ‘Last Kiss’ pop tunes in which young lovers die in each other’s arms, beehived teens-with-attitude declaring, ‘He hit me and it felt like a kiss,’ ” music critic Greg Kot wrote. While Kot said Del Rey wishes to be taken seriously as “the bad girl in a gown, the cabaret singer with a masochistic streak,” he said she’s not always up to the task, even as he praised her distinctive, draggy vocal delivery and the dramatic, eerie arrangements from producer Emilie Haynie.

Over at BBC, the focus was squarely on the music, saying above and beyond the drama, Born to Die is about “something older and more mysterious than that; the extraordinary, resilient power of the pop song.” The reviewer lamented that nothing on the 12-track album quite reaches the exquisite bummerness of lead single “Video Games,” with several of the songs running “perilously close, while revealing there’s more to her than the love-stunned torch singer [of that song].” What makes the album so fascinating and sets Del Rey apart from the typical “I’m hot, you’re hot” pop tart is her “preoccupation with Hollywood archetypes of American femininity, and her ability to shape-shift between them.”

MTV News’ own James Montgomery believed the hype, writing that the album was “positively brimming with atmospherics — soaring, sonorous strings, echoing electronic boom-bap, morose, maudlin guitar crescendos — all of which imbue it with a truly epic (if not unnecessarily dramatic) scope.” For him, the album is a “thrilling headphone experience” that sounds like the $1 million he suspected it cost to make.

The U.K.’s Guardian also praised the “sumptuous” orchestration and Del Rey’s “fine” voice. But after being impressed by the “beguiling description of a mundane love” affair in “Video Games,” the reviewer said the album’s other lyrics are “incredibly heavy-handed in their attempts to convince you that Lana del Rey is the doomed but devoted partner of a kind of Athena poster bad boy, all white vest, cheekbones and dangling ciggie.” If anything, the Guardian critic didn’t buy the Del Rey tough-girl personality and said the best bet is to mostly ignore the lyrics and focus on “how magnificently most of the melodies have been constructed.”
